Mission Statement
The Louisiana Digital Library is a collaborative effort that ensures enduring access to materials that represent the history of our vibrant communities for the purposes of research, scholarship, and cultural enrichment.

Vision Statement

The Louisiana Digital Library aspires to be the premier repository for the state’s cultural institutions by leveraging innovative technologies, fostering partnerships, and embracing representation. We aim to be a trusted and vibrant hub where knowledge thrives, stories unfold, and the essence of Louisiana’s past, present, and future is illuminated for all.

Values Statements

•         Representation: We work to promote an environment where all voices are heard and respected.
•         Open Access: We are committed to providing free and unrestricted access to our digital collections for all users, regardless of location or affiliation.
•         Collaborative Relationships: We seek to create partnerships that will lead to the enrichment and depth of our digital collections through the shared knowledge, expertise, and resources of our libraries and cultural institutions.
•         Shared Infrastructure: We are dedicated to maintaining a sustainable digital library infrastructure that allows for the seamless discovery, access, and long-term preservation of our digital collection.
•         Digital Preservation: We support and encourage members to engage in long-term digital preservation of materials that represent the heritage of our state so that our collections remain accessible using best practices, standards, and the continued adoption of emergent technology.
